As noted, some of these photos are a photograph of the original, where I bounced flash against a white wall using a hand-held 35mm camera. Someday I hope to scan the original. I use an HP 5200C scanner with Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition. The first scan is at 400 ppi, or at whatever resolution will produce 400 ppi after resizing. If I have to double the size of a picture, I scan at 800 ppi, and resize to 400 while constraining file size. This file is saved as the master. I then use Adobe PhotoDeluxe's "Extensis IntelliFix" which does a remarkable job at enhancing. This 400 ppi file is saved as the one to be emailed or sent on a CD (over 1 MB). The same image is then resized to 96 ppi, keeping the same physical dimensions, and used as the image displayed for printing from the web page display. I reload the enhanced 400 ppi image, and resize it to 75 ppi with the long side at 400-500 pixels. This is used for display on the bottom part of this page, and the one you click on to get the large 96 ppi printable one. Lastly, I reload the 400 ppi image and resize it to 75 ppi with the long side at 128 pixels for the "thumbnail" picture at the top of this page. All images are saved on a CD. |
